Originally hailing from Santa Cruz, CA, the San Francisco heavy
psych outfit Sleepy Sun embrace the acid test freakouts of Bay
Area bands of yore, without a single mark of throwback or "retro"
aesthetic. Their release last year, Embrace, is a swirling take
on guitar-driven psychedelic mystique, complete with echoed boy-
girl vocals, epic drumming, and of course, spiraling guitar
breakdowns. Coming off a European tour, announcement of a
performance at the NY ATP Music Festival sharing the bill with
artists such as Animal Collective, and East Coast dates with
Autolux, Sleepy Sun's live show is not to be missed. Their live
show pulsates with blankets of heavily psychadelic visuals and a
sexually charged performance between the two lead singers Bret
Constantino and Rachel Williams. CAROLINE PARTAMIAN
