The Brazilian Girls are neither from Brazil, nor do they have more than one female in the band. However, this did nothing to stop them from taking a name that elicits thoughts of warm sunny beaches and scantily yet brightly clothed bodies dancing to the sounds of bossa nova, techno remixes of "Rico Suave" or hard house versions of "The Girl From Impanema."
Thankfully, the band does not rely upon mere sex appeal and recycled beats to propel them to google search fame. Instead, these three musical magicians bring their unique experiences from across the globe to the forefront of New York City, where they compose irresistible dance melodies.
Comprised of three members, vocalist Sabina Sciubba, keyboardist Didi Gutman and drummer Aaron Johnston, the Brazilian Girls are making waves throughout North America with what has been described as a melting pot of style and substance. Their music ranges from mellow sounds that sway hips to dance-hall vibes that move feet from the floor, leaving their listeners insatiable for more. Most impressive of all, is their use of five different languages to impart lyrics of love, art and thoughts of late summer nights in foreign villages with far off sights. Their three album discography, the latest named after their current home, New York City, along with a brilliant and stunning stage show have left them in a position to quite possibly take over the world. Here's to hoping for a world ruled by Brazilian Girls. CHAD MITCHELL
