GREENING THE TREASURE ISLAND MUSIC FESTIVAL
Hosting a festival at such a beautiful site reminds us all of the importance of minimizing our carbon footprint. We are working diligently to decrease our emissions, divert our waste, and offset our impact. The last two years we were able to divert up to 72% of our waste to recycling and composting - the second highest diversion rate at any festival in the Bay Area. With your help we can do even better this year!

Here are just some of our Greening Initiatives for Treasure Island 2010:

REDUCING EMISSIONS

• Biodiesel generators - Fueled with B20, a mix of 20% biodiesel, 80% diesel, which reduces emissions of hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide.
• All ticket-buyers are able to offset their CO2 emissions by opting to pay an extra $1 when they buy their tickets. All money collected in this way will go towards our carbon offsets partner, Sustainable Travel International, who promote responsible travel, sustainable development. • Check out our comprehensive online guide to traveling to AT&T Park by foot, bike, BART, and MUNI. Please utilize this guide to further reduce your own carbon footprint.
• The San Francisco Bicycle Coalition will be providing complimentary Valet Bike Parking service at Lot A of AT&T Park. Think of it like a coat check for bikes-you don't need to worry about the safety of your bike while you are out enjoying the music, just park your bike at Lot A, ride a zero-emission bus to the island, and then turn in your claim check when you get back to Lot A. Special thanks to the SFBC for offering this free, unique, and convenient service!
• Every ticket buyer is given the option to add a dollar to their ticket price to offset their portion of the event's carbon emissions. This will include: Carbon Emissions for a 50 mile round trip by a 17 mpg car, Indirect Emissions for 2 Hamburgers, 2 Beers, and 1 attendees share of all the band's estimated travel emissions to and from the show.

REDUCING WASTE

• The Refillable Water Program was a great success last year and we will continue again with this tradition which greatly reduces plastic bottle consumption. The festival will offer two different refillable spring water options - you can purchase a TIMF branded stainless steel water bottle at the water station or merchandise tent and receive free refills of spring water all weekend, or bring your own water bottle from home and purchase refills for $1.
• Clean Vibes, an organization dedicated to diverting as much of the festival's waste from the landfill as possible, will stage reclamation stations with clearly marked compost, recycling and trash bins throughout the event site and festival volunteers will guide audience members on which kinds of trash belong in which bins.
• All printed materials are on recycled paper.
• Recycled napkins, paper towels, and toilet paper throughout the site
• Compostable plastic cups, plates and utensils available at all concessions
• All leftover food from the vendors will be picked up by Food Runners, an SF-based company that takes prepared food and redistributes it to different charities are the city. Check out their website to find out how you can help out.
• The TRASHed Recycling Store will be back - accepting water bottles, plastic cups and old cell phones in exchange for various prizes including TIMF goodies. Check back for prize details as we get closer.
